Are Homeopathic medicines safe?

The mode of preparation of homeopathic medicines is such that the medicines are repeatedly diluted and succussed to enhance the inherent curative powers of natural substances. By this method the material quantity of natural substances is reduced to minimal thereby reducing there side effects.

Is it allowed to take conventional medicines along with Homeopathy?

Homeopathy can be taken along with conventional medicines like anti hypertensive drugs, insulin, dietary supplements, medicine for cardiac ailments, asthma etc. However an interval of one hour is recommended.

How long shall I take the medicine?

It totally depends on the disease, its duration and prognosis. A recently developed disease might need medicine for a shorter period while a chronic disease of many years might require medicine for longer periods.

Are there too many dietary restrictions with Homeopathy?

It is a myth that there are lots of dietary restrictions with homeopathic medicines like onions, garlic, coffee etc. There are only few medicines which can be antidoted by certain food products.  applies as a rule and in most cases no dietary restrictions apply.

Which Medicines are not allowed with Homeopathic Medicines?

Most allopathic medicines may be taken with Homeopathic medicines, however steroidal drugs, skin ointments and lotions are restricted as they interfere with Homeopathic medicines.

Can we give Homeopathic medicines to babies and small children?

Yes, Homeopathic medicines can be given to babies and small children too. Homeopathic medicines are safe and gentle in action. It boosts the immunity of babies & children (or anybody who takes them) as a result of which children (or even you) fall sick very less and remain healthy.

Why do homeopaths ask so many questions?

The aim of Homeopathic consultation is to individualize each patient. Homeopathy aims to treat each particular sick individual holistically. In order to understand the sick man as a whole , we need to understand about his will, intellect, morals, emotions, stressful events in life and his reaction to them, probable causative factors of disease ( mental or physical) , his physical reactions to environment around and of course exact details of disease itself. 

Why homeopaths do not tell the name of the medicines they give?

The name of the medicine is not disclosed for the benefit of the patient. After knowing the name of the medicines the patient may keep having the same medicine without consulting the doctor, this could be hazardious. Sharing of prescription with family/friends could cause serious side effects as no two cases are exactly alike. Medicines should always be taken after consultation with a qualified homeopath only.

If the patient wants a copy of case record can be provided to the patient but at the end of the treatment, when patient has completely recovered.

Is it safe to take Homeopathic medicines during Pregnancy?

Yes, Homeopathic medicines are completely safe during pregnancy, if given by a qualified Homeopathic physician. Patient should inform the doctor about the pregnancy before taking medicine since some homeopathic medicines are also contraindicated during pregnancy. Homeopathy is safe and gentle, it is highly recommended in treating pregnancy related disorders like piles, vomiting of pregnancy etc.

Are there any food restrictions during the treatment?

Yes the patient should avoid eating or drinking for 15 minutes before or after taking homeopathic medicine. Avoid strong smelling food items like coffee, raw onion and raw garlic, mint, menthol etc for at least ½ hour to 1 hour from the medicine as their smell can hinder the action of the homeopathic medicine or antidote the effects of the medicine.

Do Homeopathic Medicines contain Steroids?

No this is a rumour which appeared because of remarkable improvement in number of patients in a very short time. In such situations some people begin to think that homeopaths give steroids. All Homoeopathic medicines are prepared by using scientific predefined methods of extracting the medicinal properties from source substances.

Does one have to take the medicines for a long time?

Usually not. The duration of the treatment depends upon the nature of the disease and the fighting capacity of the patient's body. The treatment is required for a certain time period so as to improve the resistance of the body to fight diseases.
